Levin House

Dates: 1956 - 1957
Location: Flossmoor, IL
Type: Single Family Residences

Built in the late 1950s for Leo and Sylvia Levin, this open house is one of the last single-family residences done by Bertrand Goldberg. The house was described in a local newspaper in 1958:

”...two separate buildings joined by an spacious entryway. Contemporary in conception it is unique in design both from the exterior and from the interior point of view.”

Also noted was a black stained mahogany wall, and walls of brick and glass. Colorful mosaic tile was used in the bathrooms, a likely precedent to their use in Marina City. The house was designed in 1956, and largely built in 1957.
