Project Details

Dates: 1988
Location: Chicago, IL
Type: Conceptual

In the late 1980s, several proposals were done for a mixed use residential project on Erie Street in Chicago.

The other smaller project was for a complex volumetric design, low rise, a residence for Goldberg and his wife and for the office. It is an interesting design, combining elements of Mies and Corbusier, an extension of Goldberg’s designs into areas not often explored. Design for the project was reasonably well completed, but it did not proceed due to financial concerns.

The three-dimensional images of the project, done in 2015, are based on the 1980s design drawings.

Also shown is another alternative, for a much taller tower on a commercial base. Its continuous exterior form is yet another version of Goldberg’s tower designs.
